Reminder from Hillside Dog Run

This is from the Hillside Dog Run Association:

Now that we’ve received our first snow accumulation of the season, a reminder that when it snows, the hill at the Hillside Park is reserved for sledders. A Parks Department sign at the top of the hill indicates this.

Some history: Before Hillside was designated a dog park in 2001, for decades, local families had been using the hill at Hillside for sledding.

It’s a small accommodation that for the few days each year it snows and it’s prime sledding, that the dog run users make sure their dogs don’t interfere.

You’re kindly requested to keep your dogs toward the bottom of the hill near Vine Street and away from the sledders. Some dogs can get curious and excited when the see the sledders.

If you can’t prevent your dog from going over to where people are sledding, please either use the enclosed small dog area, or come back to the dog park when there aren’t any sledders. You may think it’s harmless if your dog is running after sleds or barking, but in the past it has caused problems with kids and parents who might not appreciate your dog’s excitement and curiosity while they are sledding.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding.
