My Soft Pooch

By most standards, Hank’s fur is exactly like a normal Lab’s. It looks just like Lab fur and it certainly repels water (he dries quicker than I do after swimming!). When we first brought him home, it was also pretty coarse.

Labs are not typically known for having really soft fur, but Dr. V felt that Hank’s skin and fur were really dry (I’m sure from the trauma of having been infested with fleas and ticks). She told me to give him fish oil. We’ve been diligently putting it in his food everyday… and now his fur is unbelievably soft!

It’s amazing. Hank is so shiny and silky that I can’t help but run my fingers through it. I like to imagine him in a doggie version of a shampoo commercial, they kind where they flip their heads around show off their thick, luxurious hair. Only when Hank tries to toss his hair around, he would fall and land on his behind because he’s such a spaz!

UPDATE: After posting this, Hank got 2 comments on how nice his coat looks in 2 days! It appears I’m not the only one that thinks his fur is amazing.
