Lexi the Hero

I love these stories.

A Bichon Frise in Bay Ridge named Lexi, stubbornly pulled her owner to their neighbor’s front door. Thanks to Lexi, the elderly neighbor, who had fallen hours earlier and was in need of assistance, was found and taken to the hospital.

These stories always remind me of my own little experience like this. Once when I was a teenager I got very sick. I woke up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat, everything hurt. I didn’t know what to do, I couldn’t get out of bed and I think I was moaning in my delirium. All of a sudden, my bedroom door swung open, our little Cocker Spaniel Molly jumped in my bed and I saw my mother in the doorway like an angel.

My mom had no idea why I was so happy to see her (I think I actually started crying). It turns out Molly had woken her up as though she needed to go outside. As my mother was walking to the back door to let her do her business, Molly made a sharp turn towards my room. Still not knowing anything was wrong my mother opened the door to let Molly go where she clearly wanted to go… I felt like I had been rescued.

My mother gave me medicine and tea to help me get back to sleep. Molly staying in my bed to comfort me all night.

Molly was a great dog, but I will mostly remember her for coming to my rescue in my time of need.

Does anyone else have a story like this?
